yesterday

"Yesterday" is probably the best known and now also the most legendary song by the Beatles. Quite apart from that, this song has a special affinity to classical music. It impresses with an extraordinary, timeless musicality and it radiates a peculiar magic.

That's why we had the obsession to play this song for a long time. We have now realized this wish and recorded it in this video.

The song "Yesterday" particularly fascinates us because on the one hand it is very simple: There is nothing more than vocals, guitar and cello. On the other hand, however, it is composed in a harmonically refined way - and therefore exudes this special magic, which likes to carry the listener away into a slightly aloof, fascinating rapture.

The composer is Paul McCartney. Unfortunately, we don't know exactly what part the fifth Beatle, namely the studio producer and classical music lover George Martin, had in "Yesterday". We suspect that he was the one who added the cello arrangement.

We strictly adhered to the original composition for this cover version.

Our cover of "Yesterday" is a celebration and homage to the Beatles. Because it was these 4 who introduced the turn to a completely new music in the 1960s.

about yesterday

"Yesterday" was released on August 6, 1965 as a song on the album "Help!". Although Paul McCartney wrote "Yesterday" alone, "Lennon/McCartney" were credited as usual.

"Yesterday" was named the best pop song since 1963 by music network MTV and Rolling Stone magazine.

By January 1, 1986, there were already around 1,600 cover versions, the number of which has since increased to over 3,000. This makes "Yesterday" the most covered pop song ever.

the creation

Paul McCartney came up with the basic melody while sleeping over at the home of his then-girlfriend Jane Asher in London.
