It was 1987 when the band TR707 formed. The naming of "TR707" didn't take long, because the
5th quasi-band member was the drum machine Roland TR707. It helped decisively to compose
songs and bring them to the stage.
The special thing about the band TR707 was not only the uniqueness of the individual
musicians, but also the openness and naivety with which ideas were contributed and
developed: Everyone was a composer here, and everyone had about an equal share in the
songs.
And so came songs that differed from the mainstream, that were uniquely weird and at the
same time hauntingly magical.
In the image below we see TR707 performing in the Stadtpark Hamburg.
In Norderstedt they were "the band" - but also in the Hamburg area TR707 slowly gained
notoriety. Still, continuing this project meant working with a living drummer - and
consequently a name change to "Mayze".
They released the first TR707 album on tape (compact cassette) - and it was simply called
"First".
